The community of Blaine, Me, was saddened when the news of the death of Edwin Bamford Beals reached here, death taking place in the Montreal Hospital, Dec 24, where he went for an operation on the bladder.

 

Mr Beals was born in Nova Scotia in 1843 and was 69 years of age.  He married Miss Sadie Freeman of Brookfield, NS, and came to Blaine, Me, 31 years ago and resided on the same farm until death.  Ten children were born to them, nine of whom live:- Rena, Effie, Jessie, Archie, Pearl, Chester, Lee, Mabel and Lyle.  Two brothers and three sisters survive him, William, of Blaine; Harris of Montana; Mrs Lewis Shea of Wollaston, Mass; Mrs George M Harlow of Deep Brooke; and Mrs Wm Alcorn, of Annapolis County.

 

Deceased was a member of the Blaine Masonic Lodge and was buried under their impressive ceremony.  He was also a member of  Mountain Grange, and while not a voter he always took an active part in the welfare of the town and neighbours.  He was a man highly respected by all who knew him, and his loss will be keenly felt.

 

Funeral services were held from the Blaine F.B. Church, of which he was a member, on Saturday, Dec 28th and was largely attended.
